About Us

Thank you for visiting us! This documents our adoption journey to Bella Catherine Long Luoyue Pearson, in China. Why Chocolate Noodles? Well, we’ve learned that Bella's favorite foods are noodles and candy. Both, Dale and Rachel LOVE chocolate and Beth chose to fast from chocolate until she can share it with Bella. We would be honored if you would follow along as we travel to China to complete our family.

Update to friends and supporters:

“Sharing great news and wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving! Last Tuesday, we received a referral for a 33 month old girl in China. After reviewing her information, discussing with a doctor at the UAB special needs clinic and much prayer, we sent a letter of intent to adopt for little Long LuoYue. We heard today that we have been approved. We are now fast-tracking our dossier information and working with our placement agency to get everything in order. We hope to travel to China within the next six months.

We prepared a “care plan” letter for Bella. It will be sent to China for their review and acceptance as they review our petition to adopt.

11-23-10
Please pray! We just received a referral of a 2 ½ year old girl in China. There is a blood issue and a doctor at UAB is going to review the information and tell us what that means. We have to let them know if we want to pursue adopting her by tomorrow evening.
Our heads spin & our hearts pound!!!
11-11-10
We faxed what is called a “desired child” form to Nightlight. This form lists all kinds of common and uncommon birth defects and special needs. The agency will begin trying to match us with an available child based on the special needs we indicated we can handle. We noted mild/sever heart murmur, heart defect requiring surgery, minor ear deformity, hernia, small birth mark, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and stated we are open to other communicable diseases. The adoption consultant recommended we are clear on the communicable diseases because they could have a child with a minor issue but who tests positive for a treatable communicable disease. The China Center for Adoption Affairs (who determines if we have an official exception) will deny us if we have not indicated a communicable disease is okay. So, scary as it is, we have prayed and feel we can leave it open for interpretation.

We are feeling positive and anxiously await some news. Our hope and prayer is to know details about our girl by Christmas. Wouldn’t that be special?

Still plugging away through the paperwork while we wait…
